Dieting Strategy Associated With Benefits
Alternate-day fasting (ADF) appears to be a viable diet option to help obese individuals lose weight and decrease their risk for coronary artery disease, according to a study of 16 patients from investigators at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Body weight and percentage body fat decreased after 8 weeks of ADF dieting. Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triacylglycerol concentrations also decreased after 8 weeks of ADF.

Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, November 1, 2009.
