Analyzing EHR Use by Office-Based Physicians
About 44% of office-based physicians used electronic health records (EHRs) in 2009, representing an increase from 2008 (42%) and 2007 (35%), according to a CDC report. One in five office-based physicians reported having a basic EHR system that included patient demographic information, problem lists, clinical notes, and prescription orders. About 6% reported having “fully functional” systems.
