Uncompensated Hospital Care Increasing
       An American Hospital Association report, 2009 Health and Hospital Trends, has found that uncompensated care in 2008 increased by $2.4 billion from 2007, reaching $36.4 billion in 2009. Medicare reimbursed $0.91 and Medicaid reimbursed $0.89 for every dollar hospitals spent caring for these patients in 2009. The report, available at www.ahanews.com, notes that hospitals are seeing a greater proportion of patients without insurance.
