Report Highlights New Cancer Trends |
|
Data from the National Cancer Institute’s Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results report demonstrate that fewer people in the United States are getting cancer, and mortality rates are continuing to fall. New diagnoses for all types of cancer fell by nearly 1% per year on average from 1999. The report (available at www.seer.cancer.gov.) added that deaths decreased by 1.6% per year from 2001 to 2006. The decline resulted from a drop in mortality rates from common cancers.
