New Indications Approved for Olanzapine |
|
The FDA approved olanzapine (Zyprexa, Eli Lilly) in tablet form as an option for the treatment of schizophrenia and manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adolescents aged 13 to 17. The manufacturer also announced that a long-acting intramuscular injection of the drug (Zyprexa Relprevv, Eli Lilly) was approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults. The intramuscular injection sustains the delivery of olanzapine for up to 4 weeks.
