Physical Activity Low in OA Patients

     Adults with knee osteoarthritis (OA) appear to be largely inactive, despite apparent health benefits that can be achieved from physical activity. An American analysis found that guidelines for aerobic physical activity were met by just 12.9% of men and 7.7% of women with knee OA. Men spent more time performing moderate-to-vigorous activity than women. The findings support the need for intensified public health efforts to increase physical activity levels in people with knee OA. [ More ]
An Approach to Managing Chronic Widespread Pain
     Telephone-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy (TCBT) appears to be associated with substantial, statistically significant, and sustained improvements in global assessment of patients with chronic widespread pain, according to a British investigation. Positive outcomes were reported at 6 and 9 months, respectively, in 30% and 33% of those who received TCBT, 35% and 24% of those who received exercise therapy, and 37% and 37% of those who received exercise therapy and TCBT.
